Operation JB

Second semester has just begun and this is the first long weekend, so of course my first and natural instinct pointed towards visiting my bestie, Laura. I planned on driving down Friday after class and  I was packing in the morning when I received this text from Laura:

Oh my gosh I totally forgot we have to go to this seminar tonight downtown for my class, would u be okay with going?

Weekend in Nashville

Weekend in Nashville

Last weekend we were in Nashville, Tennessee! Quite a few interesting events happened including accidentally giving a homeless man $50, almost auditioning for a swimsuit modeling show, losing Claire’s debit card, and sitting next to Brad Paisley and Scotty Hamilton at Pinkberry!

Usually, when we’re together, a lot of crazy stuff happens, but all of this in just two days was a bit out of the ordinary!

The first story to share is how Laura managed to give a homeless man $50! As we were walking up onto a bridge in downtown Nashville, a man approached us. He wasn’t at all what we would have considered homeless from just a glance or a conversation with him. He was somewhat well-dressed, well-spoken, and looked like an average man. He introduced himself to us and shook our hands politely. He continued to tell us his life story about how his wife drowned in the flood last summer and he lost everything he had, including his home. He said he reached his all time low and thought his life was no longer worth living. He contemplated suicide until one day, he woke up and thought to himself, “I don’t have to be like this!” So, he got a job. He told us he found a family to live with, and pointed out to us where he just got a job four days ago at Jazz & Jokes. Then he proceeded to say, “I feel awkward asking you two young ladies, but sometimes when you have nothing else, you have to ask. I’m not begging, but I just want to let you know I’m in need of money for some bread to eat until I get my paycheck next week.” So Laura checked her purse to see if she had some extra cash on her. She saw what she thought was a loose five dollar bill, and reached out to hand it to the man. As he took it from her, she realized it was a FIFTY dollar bill! He thanked us and we walked away, and we were freaking out!! We just gave a stranger a fifty dollar bill.. he could have been a con man or something! So then we thought we could go find Jazz & Jokes and see if he actually works there or not, and maybe get a little peace of mind! We walked inside and the hostess asked, “Are you here to audition?” and we said, “No, we were wondering if Jackie is working today?” And she said that he wasn’t in today. So that gave us a good sigh of relief, knowing that he actually DOES work there! We really hope that he was sincere and will use the money for good purposes, and we hope he did need the money.

Now onto the next story! How we almost auditioned for the swimsuit model show! As mentioned in the previous story, when the hostess asked if we were there to “audtition”…well we were bored in Nashville, so we went back in a second time to Jazz & Jokes and said we did want to audition! (Not knowing what we were getting ourselves into!) and so the lady walked back to a man and he came up to us and introduced himself to us. He then told us that it was an audition not for the faint at heart and that we couldn’t walk without high heels. Then he gave us his card and told us that we could come back for another audition. So funny!

Then… Claire realized her debit card was missing! We backtracked every single place we went to and still couldn’t find it! We ended up having to cancel it. Have you ever lost your debit card while on vacation?

That night, we went to dinner at the Cool Springs Brewery. We ordered a delicious pizza and enjoyed a live concert right in front of us! Kimberly Faye and Robert Blythe were performing. He plays keyboard and she sings and plays guitar… they are both great! It was a nice relaxing dinner after a long day!

Afterwards, we went out for dessert at Pinkberry Frozen Yogurt. Next to us in line were country artist Brad Paisley and Olympic ice skater Scotty Hamilton! It was awesome! And they ended up sitting at the table right next to us which allowed for some good creeper photographs on our phones! Have you ever ran into anyone famous while on vacation? Share your story with us!
