Bushrangers Bay
It’s a family tradition. Every December we take the long journey from Tennessee to a peninsula south of Melbourne, Australia (I have spent all but two Christmas’s with my family down under) and each year, we pick a day and go out just before the sun sets to a place called Bushrangers Bay. To get to the bay, we must walk a long narrow path through the bush (about 1.5 miles) filled with lots of greenery, grass fields, trees, butterflies, and kangaroos.

It didn’t look too difficult. There was no way all those couples out there romantically sailing their rented Hobie Cats had done it before… No way. So of course, when the man at the Hamilton Island rentals kiosk asked us if we knew how to sail one, we assured him we were perfectly capable.

On our first day in Airlie we had the awesome opportunity to travel out to the Great Barrier Reef with Cruise Whitsundays. We boarded the “Seaflight” and headed out to the outer reef area where the Knuckle Reef pontoon awaited us. The pontoon had an awesome underwater observatory, a spacious deck for lounging, a scuba diving area, and… A WATER SLIDE!!
